PRODUCER : Baleri
The Francesca Spanish 1 is a model that Starck designed at the time of Starck Product. It was designed in 1977, with a first edition in 1979-1980.
This model was adapted in 1982 for production by Baleri in 1984 with two different backs: one with the two perforations, the rarest version, and the other with three metal tubes, the Francesca Spanish 2.
"The Francesca Spanish is surely one of the objects I'm most proud of [...] the service I wanted to provide [...] is that someone who doesn't have a lot of money can have guests in his home [...] But as he doesn't have a lot of money, he doesn't have a lot of space and he doesn't have a lot of furniture. [...] I didn't want anyone to see that they were folding when they were unfolded. [...] I worked for years, like an idiot, on a totally invisible folding system. "[1]
