Yaacov Gibstein called Agam is an Israeli artist born in 1928. He became a figure of kinetic art. Between 1946 and 1948, Agam first trained in Jerusalem at the Bezalel School, at the same time working as a graphic designer in advertising agencies. In 1951, he settled in Paris. The same year he became interested in kinetic art. He enrolled in Jean Dewasne's abstract art workshop and met Fernand Léger and Auguste Herbin.
In 1953, Agam had his first solo exhibition, where he laid the foundations of his work by referring to Judaism from a philosophical perspective. He won the first international exhibition of kinetic art at the Denise René Gallery in 1955. At the beginning of the 1970s, Agam was a great success.
