Zao Wou-Ki is a Chinese painter born in Beijing in 1920. In 1935, He started studying at Hangzhou Beaux-arts and in 1948, he exposed his pieces for the first time in Chang-King.
He decided to move in Paris in 1954, and in 1962 he worked in collaboration with the french writer André Malraux who will help him 2 years later to get french nationality.
Being one of the most representative artist of Lyrical abstraction, he combined technical methods of his oriental culture and occidentales uses.
He died in 2013 in Switzerland.
