DESIGNER : Philippe Starck

Producer : Disform

In 1977, Philippe Starck designed the John Ild model, the first bookcase of his career. It was subsequently published by Disform in 1982. Its name is taken from a character in a science fiction novel Ubik whose references by the designer are recurrent.

The structure consists of two black metal tube uprights simply placed against a wall. Five wooden shelves lacquered in black are supported by them.
